Tea began as a medicine and grew into a beverage. it has been developed as a culture in Japan for more than four hundred years. Wa Kei Sei Jaku (Harmony, Respect, Purity, and Tranquility) are the value of teaism, the way of tea.

As a host of tea ceremonies, he/she prepares the tea house clean and pure. Guests and the host respect each other and enjoy feeling harmony and tranquility.

  1. Hi, Mr Tsuboi!
    How are you?
    Hope you are fine!
About the tea, even in Algeria it is a symbol of harmony and tranquility.
We prepare it for guest during soiree and party.
It gathers families and friands in religious and national celebrations.
Sometimes we add to the tea some leaves of mantos to give it more taste.
    Try it with mentos.
    Have a good tea.
    Yours,
    Nesrine San from Algeria.

    1. Hi Nesrine-san,

      We are fine, thank you.
      How are you?

Thank you for sharing the tea tradition in your country.
      Tea makes us happy.
What if the world enjoys tea?

      Have a nice tea! 🙂

P.S. I decided to seed mint this spring to enjoy its tea in summer.
      Thank you for your suggestion.

  2. Shinichi-sensei,

I agree with the spirit of teaism. I think this was also practiced during the samurai era.

Let’s have some tea! Arigato Gozaimasu sensei 🙏😇

    1. RJ-san,

Yes. It began during the age of provincial wars.

Samurais enjoyed having tea with friends before going to the battlefield because it would be the last time.
Ichi-go, ichi-e is also the spirit of teaism and us. 🙂
