Project name: Nueva Vizcaya Farm School
By virtue of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 2017-2645 dated 04 December 2017 the Provincial Government pursued the first-of-a-kind school in Region 02 – The Nueva Vizcaya Farm School (NVFS). The said school is being managed and operated by the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya.

Project purpose:
The main purpose of the Nueva Vizcaya Farm School (NVFS) is
to promote sustainable agricultural productivity and rural development by empowering the human capital in the countryside through access to avenues of learning suited to the needs and realities of the rural communities.

The Nueva Vizcaya Farm School (NVFS) addresses the following challenges as mechanisms to promote sustainable agriculture in the province, to wit:
a. Climate Change – Promotion on the use and production of organic fertilizer
in farming (i.e., to reduce the release of nitrous oxide emissions that
contributes to climate change) and use of solar-powered water system.
b. Bio-Diversity – Promotion of organic farming (i.e., use of organic
pesticides/concoction and organic fertilizer).
c. Water – Use of Water Drip Irrigation System to conserve water.
d. Waste and Loss – Use of food and agricultural waste in producing organic
concoctions.
e. Partnership and resilience – The Nueva Vizcaya Farm School (NVFS)
collaborates with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agriculture –
Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), various farmer groups, youth sector, senior citizens, organic practitioners, and students to promote sustainable agriculture in the province.
f. Soil – Use and/or promotion of organic fertilizers, concoctions and extracts to improve the condition of the soil.

Main activities: The Nueva Vizcaya Farm School (NVFS) conducts/offers the following program/courses:
a. Integrated Diversified Organic Farming System (i.e., Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institutes Accreditation No. 2018-03-03)
b. Training Programs leading to Organic Agriculture Production National
Competency (NC) II accredited by Technical Education and Skills
Development Authority (TESDA), to wit:

  • Organic Vegetable Production
  • Organic Concoctions and Extracts Production
  • Organic Chicken Raising
  • Organic Fertilizer Production
  • Organic Small Ruminants Raising

c. Business Plan for Sustainable Local Agriculture Development

  • Visioning and Goal Setting
  • Entrepreneurship Mindsetting and Management
  • Strategy Identification (e.g., SWOT/Value Chain Analysis)
  • Business Model Canvas
  • Business Plan Integration
